I am a Geography graduate from the University of Leeds, with a passion and strong desire to work in shipbroking.
I developed this interest through my final year dissertation which explored how increased deep-sea trade on the Northern Sea Route (NSR) would have major geopolitical implications, including significant ramifications for the economics of the shipping industry, especially in East-West trades.
To obtain original data for this piece of research, I developed persuasive interpersonal skills by interviewing people in the industry over the telephone and built up key relationships with several brokers, analysts and academics. Having spent time at both ICAP Shipping and Lloyds Register I gained siginificant knowledge of the industry and understood that strong interpersonal skills are a prerequisite for shipbroking.
Therefore, I believe my communication skills, underpinned by my analytical approach to problem solving and my ability to perform under strict time pressure, would give me every chance to excel as a shipbroker. For further information please feel free to contact me on:

I have 15 years experience in the shipping industry of which 12 years were spent as a sale and purchase broker. During this time I successfully concluded many deals and honed skills such as communicating, negotiating, relationship building, problem solving and the ability to work under pressure.
Away from the industry I also have recent administrative experience providing 1:1 support for the Marketing Manager of a medium sized company. Typical duties included ; typing, data inputting, diary management/arranging appointments, arranging travel, CRM management, filing, sending out literature and liaising with clients to progress matters such as quotes and sales orders.
As I have been out of the industry for several years I would not expect to be considered for any broking roles. However, in light of my recent administrative experience, I believe I am equipped with the necessary skill set to get back into the industry in a support or ‘back room’ capacity.
