BRITAIN'S £1 BILLION MARITIME SERVICES INDUSTRY UNDER THREAT

Britain's £1 billion maritime services industry will be threatened if the Government review ordered earlier this year by Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown leads to changes in the taxation of UK-based foreign shipowners, according to a study undertaken by the Cambridge University.

For the first time Baltic Exchange shareholders have elected a Director from outside the UK, emphasising the international nature of the Exchange. BALTIC EXCHANGE ANNOUNCES PRACTICAL SHIPPING COURSE PROGRAMME

The Baltic Exchange, the world's leading maritime market, will be holding a series of practical shipping courses in 2002. The courses will be held in conjunction with the Cambridge Academy of Transport and are designed to meet the needs of those working in the shipping markets. With a strong emphasis on the commercial aspects of shipping, these courses will concentrate on dry and tanker chartering and freight derivatives.
