The Baltic Exchange Sailing Association enjoyed a thrilling weekend on the water during the City Sailing Series, Finn Trophy & Spread Eagle Regatta, held in Cowes on 6-7 September.

Racing Temptation, a Westerly Regatta kindly loaned by René Chinnery of Lymington YC, the team was made up of representatives from Range Shipping, Gray Page, MOL, and the Baltic Exchange’s very own deck cadet.

Saturday saw two lively races in a steadily building Beaufort 6, with gusts reaching Force 7 and challenging sea conditions providing plenty of excitement. Despite the demanding weather, the crew guided Temptation to a respectable 7th place finish in both races out of 11 competitors. The day concluded with a well-earned dinner at the Royal Ocean Racing Club, joined by fellow crews including Lloyd’s Lutine.

Sunday brought lighter winds and a single race, but with the tide working against them, the Temptation crew ultimately retired along with several others, deciding against deploying the anchor as the breeze faded.

All told, it was a fantastic weekend of sailing, camaraderie, and competition. Special thanks go to René Chinnery for providing Temptation and to the Baltic Exchange for its continued support of the association’s racing activities.
