EU 15th Sanctions Package against Russia update 16 December 2024

The focus of the EU’s 15^th sanctions package was on “cracking down on Russia’s shadow fleet, as well as combating sanctions’ circumvention."

The 15^th package targets 52 new vessels from the so-called shadow fleet, increasing the total number of EU sanctioned vessels to 79. These vessels (non-EU) are subject to a port access ban and a ban on the provision of services. 

The EU asserted that the designated ships had been found to engage in high-risk shipping practices while carrying Russian sources of crude or products, in arms deliveries, grain theft or supporting the Russian energy sector.
