Ref New Tess 82 Panamax – Private Trial Reporting on BPI

Good day,

My apologies for not sending this a lot sooner, but I am hoping it will be manageable.

We want to commence Private Trial reporting on the new Tess 82 Panamax from tomorrow.

There will be an additional tab to select in order to assess the BPI routes for the new

larger Tess 82 vessel (see below screenshot).

Please can you evaluate the routes basis both vessels and take into consideration the specification

of the routes and the vessel in the attached Circular 10/17.

Please note that for the new Tess 82 vessel all the routes are to be assessed basis 5% total commission,

which is 1.25% more than the current route you are evaluating.

Some of the durations are slightly changed, so please be mindful of that too.

The Baltic will publish the values for the Tess 82 and send it only to BPI Panellists.

The system will be exactly the same as for BPI on the current 74,000 dwt vessel.

Please contact Rene or myself in the event of any problems, we will be happy to help.

It might be a good idea to log in early and make sure all is in order.

I am also attaching as discussed in the Working Group meetings, a possible method of calculating the P6

using an XL spreadsheet. When there is a known fixture for ECSA to FE, with vessels speed/cons and the

delivery, rate + BB. Having input these details together with the current bunker prices and changed any

of the port costs, the estimator first calculates a voyage equivalent basis fast and slow speeds (assuming

same have been input for the vessel fixture). The lowest resulting voyage equivalent is then input into a

reverse calculation basis the new Tess 82 Panamax vessel and displays the best TCE for the new

Tess 82 basis delivery Hong Kong.

No doubt you all have your own Voyage Estimator, however as already mentioned this was something

discussed in the Working Group meetings so I am providing this just in case it might assist. I do not

expect your inputs to be an exact calculation, as the market is always changing, it is just an aide

memoire. All the guidance for Panellists still applies as per the Guide to Market Benchmarks.
