The Baltic is closely monitoring recent developments affecting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.  Our priority is to ensure that our benchmarks remain a reliable and transparent reflection of the underlying physical market while maintaining the integrity of our established assessment procedures.

 

As part of our standard governance process, we are consulting with our panellists and advisory councils. These consultations are ongoing and form a routine part of how we respond to periods of heightened market uncertainty.

 

The Baltic freight indices are based on the next fixture with forward delivery. This means that assessments reflect the voyages loading up to several weeks ahead, rather than at the time of publication.

 

The Baltic will continue to engage with industry stakeholders and follow our structured governance processes. Should any formal methodology changes become necessary, they will be communicated transparently and in accordance with our published procedures.
