This circular was updated to clarify the intent of the consultation.

 

The Middle East Gulf Indices are currently being assessed by the panellists in line with the guidance given on 4 March 2026.

The Guide to Market Benchmark allows for an emergency change, and the Baltic seeks feedback on a potential methodology change to apply if an escalation or extended duration of the conflict requires an emergency change.

Details of how to respond to the questions are set out in the consultation paper, which is available to members here  ( Consultation on a change to Methodology of Middle East Gulf Tanker Indices ). The Baltic requests comment by 17:00 21 April 2026.
