Baltic Exchange makes waves at the OSCAR Dragon Boat Race

Baltic Exchange was once again proud to take part in the OSCAR Dragon Boat Race, held on 11 September at Canary Wharf. Now in its 10th year, the event brought together teams from across the maritime industry for a day of competition and fundraising in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
See all the photos from the event here.
Two Baltic boats took to the water with grit and good humour despite challenges both on and off the course, from travel disruption caused by industrial action to the famously unpredictable British weather, which swung from late summer sunshine to heavy rain and even lightning. Racing paused briefly before the crews returned to the water, undeterred and ready to compete.
Baltic II delivered a strong performance, improving on its time in the second race thanks to colleagues stepping in to fill depleted numbers. Baltic I shone throughout, posting the second fastest time in the opening round and securing a place in the six-boat final. The closing race could not have been tighter, with Baltic I finishing in second place, just 0.0014 seconds behind the winners, Pacific Basin Shipping. Congratulations to our long-standing members on their well-earned victory.
The funds raised directly support pioneering research and treatment of childhood cancers and contribute to the construction of a new £300 million Children’s Cancer Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Baltic Exchange is proud to continue supporting this exceptional event, which showcases the best of the maritime community: teamwork, resilience and generosity.
