Baltic Academy courses make waves during London International Shipping Week
During London International Shipping Week, the Baltic Academy hosted two well-attended courses at the Novotel Hotel. Over the two-day course, participants learned from highly esteemed professors to combine theory with practical training that is directly relevant to today’s global shipping markets.
The first and flagship course, ‘Freight Derivatives and Shipping Risk Management’ (15 and 16 September), helped attendees master the theory and application of freight, bunker, interest, currency and credit trading risk. Case studies from the tanker and dry bulk markets helped bring the theory into focus.
The second course, ‘Advanced Freight Modelling and Trading’ (17 and 18 September), built on the foundation of the first. Aimed at seasoned freight traders and graduates of the introductory course, it tackled more complex modelling techniques and examined areas such as FFA trading, VaR, and options trading.
Participants came from across the globe and the face-to-face format made discussion with both lecturers and peers especially valuable. Each course was supported with detailed notes and 180 days of complimentary access to the Baltic Academy’s online campus. Overall, the courses floated participants boats and were a great hit!
