Baltic Exchange hosts Dry FFA Forum in Geneva
Baltic Exchange was delighted to host the Dry FFA Forum in Geneva on 16 October, bringing together around 70 industry professionals for an afternoon of discussion, insight, and networking focused on the latest developments shaping both the physical and forward freight markets.

Held at the Warwick Geneva hotel, the event opened with a networking lunch before moving into a series of expert-led sessions. Baltic Exchange CEO Mark Jackson began with a Baltic update, followed by Stephen Aitchison, Senior Freight Assessor, who provided an overview of recent index developments. Isabella Kurek-Smith from Baltic’s Data Partnerships team shared an update on the ongoing index transition.
Louisa Follis, Director and Head of Dry Cargo Analysis at Clarksons, delivered a comprehensive dry market update, offering insights into current trends and challenges facing the sector.
The afternoon continued with two panel discussions. The Dry Bulk Panel, moderated by Benjamin Goggin, FFA Assessor at Baltic Exchange, featured Ardalan Sappino (FFA Trader Manager, SwissMarine), Karen Taylor (Head of Industrial Commodities, ADM Investor Services), Jeffrey Yao (Managing Director, Profision Shipping) and Neil Pearson (Dry FFA Broker, Lightship), who explored the latest dynamics influencing the FFA market.
The forum concluded with an Emissions Panel led by Martin Crawford-Brunt, Carbon Lead at Baltic Exchange, joined by Benoit Viel (Global Head of Sales for Medium, Low Speed and Rail, Accelleron) and Ryan Bax (Lead Consultant, Lloyd’s Register) and Liliane Flour (Program Manager, UNCTAD). The discussion centred on the evolving emissions landscape and its impact on the dry bulk sector.
