Circular 14/22 – Market Statement : Expert judgement used on FBX Indices
This statement is to inform market participants that under Section 4.3.3 (Data Density) of the Freightos Baltic Global Container Index Guide (the Guide), routes FBX14, FBX24 and FBX26 were at 4 carriers each, on Wednesday 27th April 2022 thereby triggering the Waterfall Methodology as defined in Annex 2 of the guide.
From the 27th April 2022, The Baltic, as a Benchmark Administrator, has used expert judgement (Section 4.5.3. and Appendix 2 of the guide) to publish the values for FBX14, FBX24 and FBX26, supplied from the Calculating Agent. The Benchmark Administrator will continue to use expert judgment to validate the benchmark values supplied until the number of carriers increases, or we are able to verify with market information, or it is ascertained that market conditions require a change to the guide’s wording.
In determining the final published values for FBX14, FBX24 and FBX26 the Benchmark Administrator has examined the characteristics of the routes as well as the historic volatility in the published value.
