More than 80 professionals from the wider maritime industry gathered in Singapore in late August for a joint forum between Baltic Exchange and Citi Commercial Bank that focused on the challenges, risks and opportunities in the evolving logistics and trade landscape.

Jin Yu Cheong, Head of Baltic Exchange Asia, joined Citi Group's Vineet Puri, Head of Shipping, Logistics & Offshore, and Krystle Liew, Head of Energy Asia, at the Tinto Spanish Resaurant for an insightful and engaging session. The forum looked at the current status and future outlook of the global shipping industry, as well as the risk management involved with certain commodities and trends with oil and EU allowances.

Bringing its insight, Baltic Exchange spoke about the lessons learnt from the historic and increasingly important Baltic Dry Index (BDI). In front of an engaged audience, Jin spoke about the importance of understanding shipping cycles and how Baltic Exchange data is used to help shipping players navigate potential risks and minimise their exposure to harsh trading environments.

Following the event, a fantastic and lively networking reception took place, allowing all participants to enjoy a wonderful warm evening in the Singapore sun. Crucially, Jin had the chance to speak to many attendees about the advantages and inner workings of the Baltic Exchange, many of whom expressed interest in finding out more about Baltic data.
