The fourth annual OSCAR Dragon Boat Race is set to be the finale of London International Shipping Week on Friday 15 September.

OSCAR funds research at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children that is saving lives. And besides, it’s fantastic networking with shipowners, P&I clubs, insurers, brokers, flags… and more. It’s also great team building and a seriously fun day that sends people home with a big smile on their faces and feeling good about themselves. Last year, shipowners Scorpio and Union Maritime battled it out to become the biggest fundraisers, both raising a remarkable £21,000+ and Scorpio were just pipped to the post in the racing by North P&I.

Teams of 11 (10 rowers and a drummer), pay an entry fee of £500 to help cover costs and pledge to raise £5000 through sponsorship or company donations or fund matching. They can get a morning’s work in, then arrive in London’s Docklands for the race, where a barbecue, bar and music will keep the party going.

How can you help? Enter a team, become a sponsor, or make a donation. Help promote the event and make it our biggest yet. Watch a video of last year’s brilliant race here:
