Baltic Exchange is pleased to announce that Sigrid Teig has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer and will be joining the Baltic later this year.

After an extensive recruitment process that started in October 2025, this strategic hire comes at an exciting time of transformation and innovation at Baltic Exchange as we look to strengthen our leadership team and evolve to offer new products and services to our members and the wider maritime industry.

With more than 15 years of leadership experience across shipping, maritime services and digital transformation, including a deep knowledge of the Singapore and Asia-Pacific markets, Sigrid’s distinguished career has been driven by commercial success and stakeholder engagement across the entire global shipping sector.

Most recently, she served as Managing Director Singapore and Executive Vice-President of Customer Success for DA-Desk and PortLog at Marcura, one of the world’s leading maritime technology and services companies, where she supported more than 300 clients in the dry bulk and tanker markets. Prior to Marcura, Sigrid held key leadership positions at Western Bulk, including Chief Process Officer and General Manager of its Singapore office, where she honed her craft in freight risk, credit risk management and maritime market dynamics.

Sigrid holds a MSc degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics. She previously sat on the board of the Norwegian Business Association (Singapore), and has held several non-executive directorships across the maritime industry throughout her career.

As Deputy CEO, Sigrid will work closely with the Baltic Exchange’s CEO Mark Jackson, as well as the wider team, members and panelists to enhance our member services, expand our product offerings and strengthen the Baltic’s position as the world’s leading provider of maritime market information.

Commenting on her appointment, Sigrid noted, “It is an honour to join Baltic Exchange at such an exciting yet critical time for the global maritime sector. More than ever, our industry needs effective, reliable benchmarking data to navigate volatility, boost transparency and support the decision-making of shipping’s stakeholders. Baltic Exchange has held an important role at the heart of the maritime industry for more than 280 years and it is a privilege to now be able to contribute to its legacy and drive it forward for the benefit of its members and the entire maritime industry.”

Mark Jackson, CEO of Baltic Exchange, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Sigrid to Baltic Exchange. Her experience in commercial leadership, stakeholder management and shipping markets will complement the Baltic’s leading role in benchmark administration, enhancing our position and value to the global maritime community. The entire Baltic team is looking forward to working closely with Sigrid when she joins later this year to strengthen our offerings and drive opportunities for our members.”

Michael Syn, President of SGX Group, said, “Few institutions embody the combination of global influence, enduring relevance and trusted stewardship that has defined the Baltic Exchange for centuries. The Baltic remains a valued part of SGX Group and central to our long-term ambitions. Under Mark’s leadership, the business has built a strong platform for growth, and we are delighted to welcome Sigrid to the team. Her track record at the forefront of data-led transformation and deep roots in Asia’s shipping community will further strengthen the Baltic’s position at the heart and future of global maritime markets.”

Sigrid’s appointment as Deputy CEO is part of a planned and orderly leadership transition that was announced in October 2025. Mark Jackson will remain as CEO with Baltic Exchange but with a broader remit and focus on the company's strategic initiatives and product evolution amid the growing significance of freight and transportation data expertise around the world.
