Baltic Exchange was pleased to take part in the recent Xinde Marine Forum in London, with Jos Standerwick, Head of Membership at Baltic Exchange, moderating the opening panel of the event, “Maritime Value Chain Resilience and Collaboration.”

The panel brought together representatives from across the maritime value chain to discuss how cargo interests, shipowners, operators, insurers, data providers and industry associations can strengthen collaboration in a rapidly changing global shipping landscape. Discussion covered changing trade flows, policy shifts, geopolitical uncertainty and the importance of building greater resilience across global supply chains. While market mechanisms remain an important force in helping the industry respond to disruptions, panellists highlighted areas where stronger collaboration across the value chain is needed. These include data sharing, policy stability, the identification of emerging risks through insurance, and finding ways to share the costs associated with decarbonisation.

Jos was joined by Yiming (Frank) He of Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping, Luigi Pacella Grimaldi of Grimaldi Group, Sanne Frías Henriksen of A.P. Moller - Maersk, Stephen Fletcher of AXSMarine and William Fairclough of Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of ensuring that policy objectives are aligned with the industry's ability to finance investment, shipbuilding capacity and the commercial realities facing businesses across the maritime value chain.

The Baltic was honoured to be a part of this important conversation and looks forward to continuing its engagement with Xinde Marine and the wider maritime industry to help address the challenges facing shipping today.
