Dry team claims landslide victory at Baltic Football Match
On Thursday 15 October, another fantastic Baltic Exchange Football Event took place at The Honourable Artillery Company, bringing together colleagues and industry friends for an afternoon of football, networking and friendly competition.
This year's fixture pitted the Dry team against the Tanker team in what promised to be an entertaining contest. The teams featured players from Clarksons, Lightship, FIS, Pacific Basin, and Thurlestone, all mixing it up in a spirited display of competition. The event once again highlighted the strong relationships that exist across the maritime community, both on and off the pitch.
The Dry team wasted little time making their mark on the game, racing into an early lead with three well-worked goals inside the opening 30 minutes. However, the Tankers showed plenty of determination, growing into the match as the half progressed. Their efforts were rewarded with two goals before the break, narrowing the score to 3-2 at half-time and setting up an intriguing second half.
Any hopes of a Tanker comeback were quickly tested after the restart. The Dry side emerged with the same intensity and sharpness that had defined their opening spell, finding the net twice within the first ten minutes of the second half to re-establish control of the contest. Despite the Tankers' best efforts, the Dry team simply had too much energy in reserve, combining quick passing and relentless pressing to keep the momentum firmly in their favour.
As the game opened up, the Dry side continued to play some excellent football and ultimately secured an impressive 8-4 victory. While the scoreline favoured the Dry team, both teams contributed to an entertaining match played in great spirit, with plenty of memorable moments throughout.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the event such a success. The enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and willingness to come together from across the shipping industry are what make these events enjoyable. We look forward to welcoming everyone back at the next Baltic Football Event.
